Embarking on your MTM journey with Medi-Cal is straightforward. Here’s how to begin:
Ensure your pharmacy is enrolled as a Medi-Cal provider through the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Provider Application and Validation for Enrollment (PAVE) portal. Individual pharmacists cannot enroll separately; the pharmacy must be registered.
Within PAVE, designate a pharmacist as an Ordering, Referring, and Prescribing (ORP) provider. This step is crucial for billing MTM services. The pharmacist will need a Type-1 National Provider Identifier (NPI), obtainable via the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System
After enrollment, enter into an individual contract with DHCS to become an MTM provider. This contract outlines obligations, eligible drugs, and payment provisions for MTM services
